A 6 day introduction to Biodynamic Growing and Gardening – A Holistic, Regenerative Approach to Growing and Living alongside the Land: Taught through theory, observation, demonstrations & practice.

11th May – Design your Bio-dynamic garden, Self-sufficiency in vegetables, Culinary and Medicinal herbs and flowers. Orientation and location, infrastructure, layout, garden planning for a balanced diet.
12th May – Regenerating Living Soils – Soil and water conservation, drainage, origin, texture and structure of soils, cultivation methods, the soil-biome. Best tools to start a garden full of vitality and life.
15th June – Fertility management: Composting and vocation of soils. Crop-rotations, green manures, concentrated organic fertilizers and biodynamic preparations
16th June – Bed and Sowing plan; Raising your own seedlings – Sucessions of sowings and plantings, vegetable families and their qualities. Cold frames, greenhouses, wind protection. Nursery work, sowing methods, pricking out and transplanting, potting soils, seed-flats and seedbed preparation.
20th July – Balancing the Fauna and Flora – Prevention of pests, diseases and weather resistance in plants, bio-dynamic preparations, homeopathic & integrated pest management. Companion and inter-planting.
21st July – Considering Natural Rhythms – Planting by the moon and stars. Planting and Harvesting timelines, successions for the autumn and winter garden
Hans-Gunther Kern originally studied wildlife ecology and Biodynamics, moving over to teach Biodynamics at Emerson College for 10 years, now an international lecturer, course leader, consultant and project manager specialising in the Biodynamic approach to agricultural and community development. He commits to sharing a wholistic, multi-disciplinary and sustainable way of life, having been a pivotal figure in the establishment of numerous Biodynamic working groups and community supported agricultural projects across six countries on two continents. He has set up and run many Biodynamic Training Centres, New Earth Communities and founded the Wholistic Living University as well as co-founding The Healing Matrix, a ground-breaking platform designed to empower individuals on their journey towards wholistic, integrative healthcare and lifestyle choices. In his advocacy for environmental stewardship, Hans-Gunther encourages communities to assume responsibility for nature. Drawing from native and traditional farming wisdom, agro-ecology, permaculture, Biodynamic principles and modern research in quantum agriculture, cymantics and bio-resonance. He promotes integrative and regenerative approaches to food production, by embracing these practices. We are honoured to have him as our teacher for this course at Roots to the Moon.
