Twisted Teens is a band from New Orleans, USA, "here to put some steel wool type hair on your chest. Gritty, toothy lofi punk with some stoink on it" (Sims Harden). Ian, the same person behind well-known folk punk band Blackbird Raum" (Atwood Magazine).I April i fjor slapp det amerikanske bandet Twisted Teens sitt selvtitulerte debut-album som en digital utgivelse på bandcamp. Bandet hadde ingen hørt om før og selvpromoteringa var ikke akkurat overflødig. Av tilgjengelig informasjon kunne man konkludere følgende: bandet tilhører musikkbyen New Orleans og ga ut fjorårets beste album.
Tre måneder seinere ga de seg ut på en Europaturné med noen bunker kassetter og T-skjorter i bagasjerommet og som kjært barn fikk de en rekke forskjellige beskrivelser; alt fra swamp-punk og anarcho-garage til egg-punk eller som Egon Holstad skrev i sin anmeldelse av albumet: «Som lyn fra klar himmel».
Lyden av Twisted Teens har definitivt elementer av både punk, garasjerock og country ispedd litt Nola rnb & soul prega av en lo-fi DIY-ånd med hint av Velvet Underground, insisterende driv i gitarriffinga og catchy bayou-steel-gitar. Med andre ord: dette må du få med deg!
