Their most recent release is the cosmic full-length Right Now [Signature Sounds Recordings] which The Boston Herald called "progressive bluegrass or maybe chamber folk or prog rock or jazz fusion or just pop with an experimental bent. Whatever the genre give the group a bluegrass Grammy for good measure." Twisted Pine will be releasing another full-length record in October.
Tonewood String Band is an original psychedelic bluegrass band based in Denver, CO. Founded in 2021, Tonewood emphasizes heartfelt original songwriting, powerful vocal harmonies, and heady instrumental jams over a driving progressive bluegrass backbone. The group consists of George Sepmeier (Violin, Mandolin), Evan Shely (Guitar), Elijah Donovan (Banjo), Matt Thomas (Upright Bass) and Steve Lisi (Percussion). They’ve shared stages with notable local and national acts including The Fretliners, Chicken Wire Empire, and Liver Down the River among many others. Tonewood is charting new sonic territory this year with plans to record new original songs and performances at notable events including Tico Time Bluegrass Festival and Palisade Bluegrass & Roots Festival.
