As a part of DUBLIN LIVE! Dublin City Council's Live Local Performance Programme Funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Gift Horse Theatre present Twelfth Night as an open-air theatre event. Eight actors come together to rehearse Twelfth Night (with an audience). Roles will be doubled up - and tripled, and switched around, and switched back again - as the cast fight for their chance to show how it should really be done. Our version of Twelfth Night will be playfully brought to life through live music, dance, mischief and mayhem.
Following a successful tour of outdoor venues around Dublin in August, Gift Horse are bringing Twelfth Night to Merrion Square Gardens this Sunday the 26th of September. The performance will be on an intimate scale with social distancing in place for audience members. You may sit in social or family bubbles spaced 1.5 metres apart - there will be stewards onsite to guide you. The running time of the show is two hours with a short interval. Please bring your own picnic blankets or picnic chairs (and picnics if you like, but please ensure you clean up all rubbish and leave the space as you found it). The performance begins at 5pm; you are welcome to arrive from 4.40pm. You do not need to print out your tickets - we will tick off your names on arrival. Please meet at the Dermot Morgan commemoration chair inside the gardens. A steward will then lead you to the performance space. Unfortunately, there are no toilet facilities available in the gardens.
A limited capacity of 70 audience members per performance will be applied. Audiences will be expected to social distance from other spectators, unless in a social bubble. Audiences are welcome to wear face masks during the performance, but it is not required, as it is an open-air performance.Please familiarise yourself with and respect the current government health & safety guidelines for Covid-19.
