The Rotary Club of Alliston’s Twelfth Night Christmas Tree Bonfire is back again at Riverdale Park on 4 January 2025. We expect another enthusiastic crowd of more than 500 people gathered around the fire and on the hillside overlooking the park's south parking lot.
The Rotary Club of Palgrave’s chuckwagon will be there to serve hot dogs and hot chocolate at $1.00 each in support of Rotary’s many community projects. The hot dogs are being generously provided by Country Meat Cuts of Utopia and the hot chocolate is being donated by Tim Horton’s on Dunham Drive. Local farmer Alex MacKenzie has kindly agreed to loan us straw bales for seating and to serve as a safety perimeter. The New Tecumseth Fire Department will be on hand to light the fire and keep everyone safe.
We’ll get underway at 5:30 PM with refreshments. This year we'll have entertainment at 5:45 from Scarlet Black a performance artist working with fire and lights appearing courtesy of the Alliston Potato Festival. The bonfire lighting will take place at 6:30 and the event will wind up after 7:00 PM. Spectators can park along Fletcher Crescent across from the Rotary Adventure Playground near the hospital or on the streets near King and Victoria.
Rotary volunteers will be picking up discarded Christmas trees from the roadside in Alliston from New Years Day to the 3rd of January. Residents can also drop off their used trees at the Riverdale Park parking lot (entering the driveway from King Street just north of the bridge) anytime from the 1st of January on. Our volunteers will build them into a massive pile over the course of the week in preparation for the 4th.
We look forward to seeing lots of families come out to enjoy some warm community spirit on a cold January night and witness a very exciting spectacle.
