About this Event
We're hosting a tween sewing camp on July 10th-13th at Project 658 in east Charlotte. Our nonprofit sewing studio provides vocational sewing training to refugee women through the school year, but for one week, we're also offering this training to your tween! We define tween as 9 to 13 year olds, but are open to special requests.
Camp runs each day from 9:45 to 1pm. We'll take a 30 minute snack/lunch break, so have your child pack a snack or small lunch, plus water or drink. Let us know of any allergies and we'll plan accordingly.
In this camp, we'll teach the basics of using a sewing machine, plus tackle up to 4 fun projects that tie-in to the cultures & countries represented in our classes. We'll do head ties & scrunchies for Congo (DRC), make sling bags for Myanmar, tackle a pillow for Afghanistan, and make a blanket/rug to learn about Syria. (As a note: These projects are subject to change based on materials and number of students attending)
IMPORTANT: Camp is $135. After you register, we'll send you a payment link. If you have not paid within 7 days, your child's registration will be cancelled.
There will be 8 students max with 2 teachers. Be prepared to buy your child a sewing machine after they've taken this camp because they'll want to go home and start making their own projects! These camp fees help cover the cost of providing vocational training and mentorship to refugee women in Charlotte.
After registration, we'll be reaching out with a liability form that we'll need before your child can attend camp. Please reach out with any questions before registration. Note - we are a Christian organization, so be aware of that.
