About this Event
There are over 1 million Australians suffering with an eating disorder. It is estimated that over 16.3% of Australians are suffering with either disordered eating or a diagnosed eating disorder.
According to the InsideOut Institute for Eating Disorders, the increase in eating disorder symptoms has been exorbitant, with a 74% increase in food restriction, a 66% increase in binge eating and an 88% increase in body image concerns. With 40% of eating disorders being undiagnosed, how do we recognise, screen and manage eating disorders in primary care?
Eating disorders are complex, potentially life-threatening illnesses with significant medical and psychosocial consequences. Early detection and intervention can significantly contribute to better outcomes.
This clinical society meeting will provide key information needed to provide best practice care for patients with eating disorders via support from the local health district. Equip yourself with the knowledge and skills needed to understand, identify and assess eating disorders, provide medical treatment, lead the multidisciplinary team, manage MBS items, and provide ongoing recovery support. Ask questions from the panel and others in the room, get to know local supports, and better understand the local referral options available to you.
Register now and more event details will be announced soon.
