About this Event
Dr. Della Rocca will lecture on Artificial Intelligence and the psychology of human-AI interactions, drawing metaphors and allegories from ancient myths and stories about humans' desire to create an artificial version of themselves. Using a historical framework based on psychological concepts, this lecture aims to debunk the idea that machines can be something more than the men who create them—and what this means for psychological research.
Dr. Mattia Della Rocca holds a PhD in Philosophy and History of Science from the University of Pisa and is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where he teaches several psychology courses at the Medical School. He is also a faculty member at the Graduate School in Psychotherapy “Bios Psyché” in Rome and the Italian chapter of the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE). Over the past few years, he has delivered several lectures for Tulane University's Study Abroad Summer Program. Additionally, Mattia serves as the Principal Investigator for the PAD International Research Group, a team of European and American scholars dedicated to studying the psychology of digital environments and Artificial Intelligence.
