Please join me for a benefit gig to raise money for The Teenage Cancer Trust, Act (Addenbrookes Charitable Trust) and C9 ward - Addenbrookes. Live music from Helen Connelly, A Twist of ABBA and Keystone!
There will also be a raffle on the night so bring along some cash, got to be in it to win it! Prizes will be added to the page once confirmed.
A little bit about why I am holding this event….
Last year, my son received a diagnosis of bone cancer. He began treatment in the August, initially in London but after a couple of months he moved his care to Addenbrookes.
My son has received outstanding care from both hospitals and they have supported all of us every step of the way with such understanding and consideration.
I wanted to be able to give something back to help others who find themselves in our position by raising money and donating it 3 ways.
The Teenage Cancer units in both hospitals are sponsored by The Teenage Cancer Trust, sponsoring nurses on the ward, funding the ward designs and social areas and provide many services and support groups and activities both in the hospital and the community.
Act is a charity specifically for Addenbrookes. I plan to request for funds raised to go
directly to the teenage and young adult ward where the team will decide how it should be spent. They will speak to patients and their families for feedback and will also consider any activities, trips or equipment which would benefit the ward and its users.
And finally, donations to be made to C9, the TCT unit. The amount raised will determine how this money is spent as it will go on items to be directly donated to the ward or to be passed on to patients. Possibly mini fridges for the beds in the bay, Just Eat or Deliveroo vouchers to be given to patients or computer games or craft activities for the social zone.
