About this Event
Following on from an Arts Council-funded Voice and Movement research and development project that I did earlier this year, I'm offering this 2 day workshop in voice and movement for practitioners and performers, to explore how these two elements can inform and inspire each other, how they can work together to free us up, spark creativity and facilitate some real fun with voice and movement-based improvisation, rhythm work and musical collaboration, all of which will form the basis of this workshop.
Over the two days we will play with layered rhythms and harmonies in our voices and bodies, drawing on music from a whole range of sources and creative approaches from music, dance and theatre, as well as improvising and devising some of our own. The idea of the workshop is that we explore our own singing and moving, developing our skills, building some confidence, and reflecting on how we can take some of these ideas into our work with others.
Over the past few years, I have been exploring different approaches to voice and performance, attending and running experimental workshops and projects, collaborating with visual artists, composers and movement specialists, as well as attending trainings with some brilliant artists including Meredith Monk and Ellen Fisher. I’m always amazed at how much can be created though voice and movement working together.
Each day will run from 10.30 - 4.30pm with an optional dinner /social on Wedsneday evening . The venue is a beautiful Swedenborg Chapel, 15 minutes’ walk from Norwich City Centre
There are also a number of discounted bursary places available on request.
