About this Event
Enjoy a multi-sensory, interactive workshop on the performing arts and cultural traditions of the Tulu people of South India. Experience the music and dance traditions of the Tulu people through hands-on participatory demonstrations. Learn about the vibrant festivals and cultural practices from the Tulu region through engaging presentation and discussion with a local Tulu artist. And enjoy a sampling of dishes from the region.
This is an all-ages, family-friendly event, free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend. Let us know you're coming by RSVP-ing to reserve your space.

Where: Allen R. Baca Center, 301 W Baghdad Ave, Bldg 2, Round Rock. Workshop will be held inside the Dining Room.
Parking: Free parking in the parking garage located below the Baca Center. Elevators available in the center of the parking garage leading up into the building.

About the Tulu People:
The Tulu people are an ethno-linguistic-cultural group from the South Indian states of Karnataka and Kerala. They are native speakers of the Tulu language and form a predominant cultural group on the southwestern coast of India.

About the Artist Presenter:
Sreedevi Jairaj is an artist born and raised in the South Indian state of Karnataka. Now living in Austin along with her husband, Jairaj, who is also from the Tulu community of Karnataka, she maintains ties to her cultural roots by imparting Tuluva knowledge and traditions to their two sons and incorporating elements of Tulu culture into her artistic work. Sreedevi also teaches Tulu folk music and dance to youth in the Austin area through her community dance ensemble, The Tulu Tribe.
