As part of Tuku 25 Whakatū, the Nelson Jazz Club present an historic look at two different jazz styles - dixie and swing. Presented by the Dixie Swing band who perform at The Barn, behind the Honest Lawyer at 1 Point Road, Stoke.
Be prepared to learn about the beginnings and growth of Dixie.
Also, join in! The latter part of the evening is open to anyone who would like to join in to make a larger dixie band.
Dixie Swing will advise through the Nelson Jazz Club website, a list of songs for an open jam session, at the end of the evening, so come along with your instruments to play some dixie and swing jazz.
$10 General public, $5 Nelson Jazz Club Members, Free Jammers. No bookings required.
NJC's aim is to increase performance space and diversity of jazz within our community through our monthly club nights.
We also seek to foster a greater appreciation of jazz and expand our local jazz community.
Nelson Jazz Club Members will have a discounted entry to each Club Night. (cash only at door)
