SamuelN.E. Samuel is an Ethiopian poet, essayist, and computer science student at Jain University, Bangalore, India, under the Study in India scholarship. Born and raised in Ethiopia, Samuel’s writing explores themes of existential despair, self-reflection, and metaphysical inquiry, blending surrealist imagery with a deep awareness of life’s fragility. His poetry, shaped by personal struggles with chronic illness and observations of human resilience, often delves into isolation, faith, and the tension between light and darkness. Influenced by Gothic literature, postmodern philosophy, and his Ethiopian heritage, Samuel’s work resonates with universal themes of the human condition. The author of several poetry collections, including Inverted Saints and From God’s Barren Grave, Samuel’s writing reflects a journey of grief, spirituality, and endurance. Deeply inspired by music, philosophy, and art, he uses poetry as a lens to explore existence, embracing both its darkness and fleeting light.
