Did you know UVA’s heat plant produces enough heat each year to bake over 500 million pizzas? Come tour and learn how campus-scale heating has evolved over the decades from open coal boilers to state-of-the-art, clean electric heat pumps. We look forward to seeing you.

This October we are going behind the scenes at UVA. Behind every light switch, lab experiment, and classroom are people, places and systems that make it all possible. Join us this Campus Sustainability Month, October 2025, for a series of free events that will allow UVA students, faculty, and staff to get to know energy, waste, and other key infrastructure at the University. From pipes underground to solar panels on rooftops, we’ll foster a deeper appreciation for what keeps our Grounds running day in and day out!
