ABOUT
Join CU Maurice River for the final event in our restoration-themed Tuesday on the Fly series with a guided walk at the restored South Cape May Meadows Preserve, led by The Nature Conservancy’s Damon Noe. Discover the rich history of this 200-acre coastal habitat, a critical stopover along the Atlantic Flyway and a haven for both migratory and resident bird species.
Once a bustling vacation town, South Cape May was abandoned in 1944 due to severe storm damage and coastal erosion. Decades of ecological decline followed until a major restoration in 2007 revitalized the area, rebuildng dunes, wetlands, and wildlife habitat. Learn about the innovative efforts that brought this landscape back to life and the continued work to protect it. Don't miss this opportunity to explore one of New Jersey’s conservation success stories!
