The word parable is a transliteration of the Greek word "parabole" (para-bow-LAY). Parables can be identified by the use of the word "like," as in Jesus' statement, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed". Parables are among the oldest and most common forms of teaching in the Bible. They are not allegories, fables, myths, or proverbs, which are often confused with each other. The natural events described in parables are those we would expect to see in nature. Please join us as we explore "The Parables of Jesus" starting April 19th. We will meet in the Finding Joy Classroom. Please contact the church office ([email protected] or 304-263-4633) if you plan to attend so we may ensure we have enough materials.
