About the Artists
Lewis Childs is a songwriter, performer, educator, and recording engineer based in Portland, Oregon. Originally from Los Angeles, he began playing electric guitar at 13 and later studied musical theater at Cuesta College and vocal performance at the University of Oregon’s School of Music. His career has taken him across eleven countries, performing and leading workshops at colleges and educational institutions throughout the Pacific Northwest. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including harmonica virtuoso Joe Powers, Brazilian percussionist Márcio daLari, actress and singer Maggie Wheeler (Friends), jazz pianist Galen Clark (Trio Subtonic), and songwriter Robin Jackson.
Leon Cotter (keys & clarinet) has performed across both coasts in styles ranging from jazz and reggae to Middle Eastern and Dixieland. A Berklee-trained musician, he has played at venues such as The Fillmore West and New York’s Blue Note, as well as major festivals like Burlington JazzFest (opening for Jimmy Cliff). As a touring member of The California Honeydrops, he has shared the stage with Bonnie Raitt, Charlie Hunter, and The Hamiltones.
Michelle Alany (violin) is an internationally touring violinist and vocalist known for her deep connection to world folk traditions, particularly Sephardic, Mediterranean, and Eastern European music. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Berklee College of Music, she has performed as a soloist and with chamber ensembles across the country, blending classical technique with vibrant folk influences.
Tyson Stubelek (drums) began playing music at the age of three, later studying with Portland jazz greats Alan Jones and Mel Brown. He holds degrees from Portland State University and the New England Conservatory, where he studied with jazz legends like Lee Konitz and Dave Holland. Stubelek has performed internationally with artists such as Danilo Pérez, Esperanza Spalding, and Julian Lage, and he currently teaches at the University of Portland.
