A landscape/container on the dance floor without music to experience yourself and group/relational space non-verbally-through movement and sound.
Participating in the Underscore is a chance to practice Contact Improvisation within a structure that cultivates group mind along with a shared experience of creativity, play and permission. Developed by Nancy Stark Smith in the early 90's, the Underscore subtly supports participants in a collective improvisational movement exploration that generates moment to moment group composition.
The Underscore is an oral tradition passed along from person to person, group to group with a Talk-Thru. Once a group has learned the structure, they practice it together non-verbally with minimal facilitation.
SHARED AGREEMENTS
1) All new participants agree to attend the talk-thru (starting at 12) BEFORE participating.
2) All participants agree to attend the underscore from start to finish (1-3pm).
3) All participants agree to stay home if they're feeling at all unwell.
