Learn about the origins of one of the most important cities of the American Southwest, Tucson, on this cultural heritage itinerary.
Walking downtown Tucson’s El Presidio and the Barrio Viejo quarters, we will explore the history and architecture of the community through the themes of the Native American, Spanish Colonial, Mexican, and American Territorial eras as well as highlight the regional Sonoran Row House buildings.
Gain insight and perspective on why Tucson was the first U.S. UNESCO designated as a City of Gastronomy. This is an opportunity to discover what makes Tucson such a unique and special place that forms part of the tapestry that is America.
There is approx. 2-mile total walking distance on this urban trek along sidewalks and relatively level paved streets.
Please be sure to bring comfortable shoes and sun protection - sunscreen, hat, and/or long-sleeved loose-fitting clothing as well as plenty of water.
The tour is divided into four themes based on our locations in Tucson including:
- Native American History
