About this Event

Get paddling with Forth Canoe Club. Non-members welcome - beginners, next steps or returning to paddling.

Come along to an open night! Our coaches will be on hand to help you get started. If you've been to one of our sessions before, come back and develop your skills and confidence. You can use these sessions to get ready to paddle unsupervised with the club, or you might want to progress to a course with us.

You DO NOT need membership of the club for the first THREE TIMES you paddle with the club (apologies can't change all the questions on Eventbrite!).

The session lasts for 2 hours and will give you a chance to try canoe, kayak and/or paddleboard in a relaxed environment, with some games and activities.

Who is this event for?

Open sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have paddled before. There will be instructors on hand to get you safely on the water and paddling around. If you have been to one of our open nights or intro sessions, take your next steps and get ready to paddle unsupervised. For closed deck kayaks, you will need to show us you can cope with capsizing.

If you have done some paddling before, come along, see what the club has to offer and decide if you want to get back into the sport with the club.

Location

Open sessions run from our boathouse, situated on the bank of the Union Canal at the southern end of Harrison Road.

The nearest Postcode is Polwarth Church - EH11 1LU.

What you should bring with you:

You will need suitable clothing (this is weather dependent, but could include a fleece, warm t-shirt/thermal, tracksuit trousers, cagoule/windproof, hat and towel). We encourage you to wear footwear, plimsolls are ideal. There are changing rooms & a toilet available during this time. We strongly recommend a towel and change of clothes during the colder months, just in case!
