About Us: What We Do

About Short Film Youth Competition (SFYC) 2024

Dedicated to empowering and enriching the Youth community in Singapore, SFYC seeks to broaden youths’ perspectives on mental health through specially curated filmmaking and mental health workshops.

As part of this competition, MHFFS will feature workshops with industry experts. These workshops aim to empower and equip youth participants with credible information on mental health in Singapore, as well as practical filmmaking tips.

About

MHFFS provides a safe platform for audiences to learn more about different aspects of mental health through a series of films, panel conversations, and workshops. As mental health awareness continues to grow in Singapore, it is also crucial to acknowledge the importance of managing our emotions and discomforts on the subject. Only in doing so can we take meaningful steps to support the mental health of our children, youths, and communities.

What can I expect?

In collaboration with SFYC 2024, MHFFS has partnered with Jonathan Choo to bring a virtual talk on the creative process of transforming every day inspirations into personal stories!

Through the workshops, we hope you will be able to achieve these objectives:

 • Learn about emulating specificities and physical behaviour of your characters on screen
 • Gain insights on how to simplify and make choices in your performance
 • Know what to look out for in a script
 • Breakdown and perform scenes in small groups with feedback on-the-spot

As a charity organisation, we are supported by the generosity of the public. The five dollar charge is meant to cover administrative fees.

*Please note that photos may be taken during the workshop for publicity purposes. By registering for this event, you hereby consent to having your photo/likeness/recordings posted publicly and on social media.
