Truly Beginning Sewing Class

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to sew but don’t know where to begin, this class is designed just for you! We’ll start at the very beginning and walk you through the fundamentals of sewing, your machine, and the essential tools you’ll need. No experience required—just bring your curiosity and lots of questions!

What to Expect

• Learn the complete anatomy of your sewing machine and how each part functions.
• Practice winding and inserting bobbins, threading your machine, and adjusting tension.
• Explore essential stitches and when to use them.
• Get comfortable with presser feet, machine needles, and stitch control.
• Learn about sewing supplies, cutting tools, notions, and basic setup for successful sewing.
• Plenty of hands-on practice with guidance every step of the way.

Supplies Required (Students MUST Bring)

Please bring everything you have amassed so far, including:

• Your sewing machine in good working order
• Power cord and pedal
• Scrap fabric for practice
• Scissors (fabric scissors if possible)
• Pins and Pincushions
• Machine needles
• Any additional supplies or notions you already own
• LOTS of questions—this class is built for them!

The shop may have limited sets of fabric, scissors, and pins available to borrow, but you must bring your machine and needles.
