--- Meets quarterly on the 2nd Thursday of the month: March 12, June 11, September 10, December 10
--- 6:30pm; Unitarian Universalist Church (1613 E Emerson St., Bloomington)
The True Colors Book Club is hosted by Bloomington Public Library, PFLAG Bloomington-Normal, and Prairie Pride Coalition. It is welcoming of all age groups and any member of the public who can respect this safe space for our LGBTQ community. The group will discuss books with themes relevant to the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to discussion and socializing, the group will also serve as a source of support and safety for all members.
A specific novel, story collection, or non-fiction title is selected in advance for discussion, although general discussion about LGBTQ+ literature may follow the discussion of the selected title.
During 2026, the True Colors Book Club will discuss the following titles:
--- Thursday, March 12 — "Washington's Gay General: The Legends and Loves of Baron von Steuben" by Josh Trujilo
--- Thursday, June 11 — "Disco Witches of Fire Island" by Blair Fell
--- Thursday, September 10 — "First Man-Made Man: The Story of Two Sex Changes, One Love Affair, and a Twentieth-Century Medical Revolution" by Pagan Kennedy
--- Thursday, December 10 — "Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon" by Annie Mare
