Isla is a beautiful, resilient five-year-old girl facing an unimaginable battle with CLN1 Batten Disease, a rare and fatal neurological disorder. She is the only known case in Australia, making her journey even more isolating. Batten Disease has stolen everything from her - she suffers hundreds of seizures daily and has lost the ability to walk, talk, and even eat independently. She is now like a newborn in an almost six-year-old’s body, but with even less brain activity.Most children with CLN1 don’t live past five, yet Isla is defying the odds, turning six this May. But there is no cure, no treatment—only heartbreak. Her family is now preparing for the inevitable, ensuring she can pass away peacefully at home. When that unknown time comes. Despite the devastation, they fight every day to give her love, dignity, and joy.
