Please join us for our fourth installment of our special lecture series, exploring the "inner spirit of flight" with Jan Hintermeister.
About this Event

Overview:

Artist Nathan Oliveira was constantly inspired by the natural surroundings and animals. His “Windhover” - consisting of oil paintings of birds - exemplifies the vital role that art has in capturing the magnificence of nature. As a prolific birder, Jan Hintermeister knows all too well the beauty of the natural environment and its capacity to inspire us all.

In this Triton Talk, Jan Hintermeister will discuss the intersection of ornithology (the branch of zoology dedicated to the study of birds) and art with a focus on Nathan Oliveira’s artwork. He will discuss some aspects of birds in human cultural history which necessitates looking at art. Please join us as Jan helps us to reflect on the interpretation of birds in artistic representation.

"It’s really about the imagination, the inner spirit of flight. The curves in these works reflect the curvature of our planet, suggesting that we’re all on this great ball together." - Nathan Oliveira

Free parking is included, as well as refreshments and light snacks.
