Trinity Orchestra is thrilled to welcome world-famous opera singer Janice Watson to sing the sublime Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss in our first concert of 2025.
Janice Watson is a globally celebrated soprano, renowned for the beauty of her sound. She has performed in most of the major opera houses of the world including: The Royal Opera Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera New York, and La Scala Milan, and has been a regular guest with both English National Opera and Welsh National Opera.
The programme, conducted by Jonathan Butcher, also includes Elgar’s In the South (Alassio) – a work full of vibrant orchestral colours – and Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte, with its graceful charm.
The evening culminates in a performance of the powerful and evocative Symphony No. 2 by Borodin – a dynamic and thrilling work, brimming with Russian folk melodies and bold orchestration, making it a powerful showcase of his masterful compositional style and a must-hear for any lover of orchestral music.
