About the event
The Three Valleys Community Rail Partnership are pleased to invite you to attend a free session at Taff Rocks, working with both Taff Rocks and Invest Local Ynysowen. Across the UK are events throughout 2025 to celebrate 200 years of the railways.
We were ahead of the game in Merthyr - to celebrate the world’s first railway journey in 1804 by Richard Trevithick, on the 21st February 2025, the Three Valleys Community Rail Partnership are holding a walk about the local history of railways in the area.
We would love you to come along to the community session in Aberfan on Tuesday 18th February 2025 and paint some themed rocks with us. These will then be shared out in Merthyr on the 21st February and along the Trevithick Trail as part of the celebration. It is also a great way to try a session at Taff Rocks.
Taff Rocks are the hosts of this event and will be facilitating the workshop.
On the day, provided for you will be:
- Rocks, of course

From Trevithick's steam train to Thomas the Tank Engine, from the Orient Express to Flying Scotsman. From steam to electricity and everything in between!
