This isn’t your average stroll – we’re talking an 8.8-mile round trip (plus an optional ~1-mile boardwalk loop for the truly ambitious!). We’ll maintain a comfortable pace of 2.5 mph, ensuring everyone can enjoy the scenery. Pack a lunch to savor along the trail and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. We’ll meet at Koogler Wetland Prairie Reserve at 10:00 AM and plan to be back by 2:30 PM.
About the hike leader: Pat Morrow is active in the Dayton Hikers and Ohio Valley Trailblazers hiking groups, and has led and participated in many hikes and backpacking trips in the Dayton, greater Ohio and Kentucky areas, and beyond.
Route: We’ll hike north from Koogler through James P Amon Biodiversity Reserve, continue along the Beaver Creek to Dayton Yellow Springs, take the sidewalk over to and go all the way through Fairborn Community Park to Garland Ave, then we’ll return to our starting point. We will travel 4.4 miles each way, for total of 8.8 miles. For those with extra energy, can finish on the ~1 mile long Koogler Wetland Boardwalk. Pace: 2.5 mph. Plan to return to Koogler by 2:30p. Boardwalk, Surface Trail, and Sidewalk will be accessed for this hike.
