About this Event
On Sunday 22nd Febraury 2026 join us for a 'Selfcare Sunday' wellbeing walk as we visit Dovedale, located in the Peak District National Park.
Dovedale is regarded as the Peak District’s best-known dale and a popular excursion along the beautiful River Dove. The renowned picturesque scenery was popularised by the Romantic Movement and its fame established by railway tourism and guided trips from the Stepping Stones. In the 1930’s, a campaign was launched to make Dovedale Britain’s first National Park.
Starting from the National Trust car park we meander north following the River Dove to the small hamlet of Milldale. Enroute to Milldale we pass Lovers Leap, Tissington Spires, Reynard's Cave, Lion's Head Rock, Ilam Rock, Pickering Tor, Dove Holes, The Nab and Ravens Tor. After a short visit to Milldale we make our way back retracing our approach route.
This walk is 9.6km (6 miles) with a total ascent of 123m and will last approxiamtely 3 .5 hours with breaks and viewing stops. This walk is graded as easy as the route is fairly flat throughout and on well defined paths. Care will need to be taken following any wet or icy weather.
