LGBTQIA and Allied Challenging Hike exploring the beautiful Waterways and Country parks North West London has to offer!
About this Event

What does the hike involve?

Our first Hike of June, unaffected by Rail Strikes, offers a fantastic adventure through an array of Londons hidden scenic gems! This adventure we explore the many waterways, lakes and rivers the make up the Colne Valley. We will also explore alongside the historically significant Grand Union Canal, as well enjoy the many picturesque villages that line boarders of the Chiltern Hills AONB!

What difficulty is this hike?

This hike is rated as Challenging due to it's length with a few gentle hills and has a total length of 28km (total ascension being 398 metres.) Due to the length and challenging nature of this hike, all hikers attending must be 18 years and over and in able physical condition to complete the hike. We encourage Trek/Fit members to bring their dogs with them as nature has just as positive impact on them too (Please see What is the Trek/Fit disclaimer form? below)

Is any hiking attire and accessories needed for this hike?

For health and safety reasons we have a Mandatory requirement for each Trek/Fit member to bring the following:

1. Walking shoes / boots with good grip

2. Walking trousers or synthetic based gym shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms should be fine (Jeans / Chinos are not permitted for safety reasons)

3. Waterproofs (if needed)

4. Thermal Layers

4. Water (minimum of 1.5 litres) and appropriate lunch/snacks

5. Sunscreen protection

Please also note that if these rules aren't met the guide reserves the right to refuse you joining the hike.

What train ticket(s) do I need to book and where is the Meet up Point?

No tickets need to be purchased in advance as we will be utilising the Metropolitan Line which accepts contactless/oyster cards across the line.

Please be at the entrance of BakerStreet Station (Zone 1, Metropolitan Line) for 10:00am. We will be leaving from Amersham Station (Zone 9) after 18:00.

What does the hike cost?

Each hike is £15.00 per person (plus a booking fee by Eventbrite) to cover travel and expenses for the guide. Trek/Fit operates a no refund policy on all ticket sales but we are more than happy to accommodate moving your ticket to another hike if needed (dependent on event capacity).

Can I join the hike on the day?

All attendees have to book via Eventbrite before arriving at the meeting point with the deadline being the night before (02nd June). This ensures that all attendees are accounted for (for health and safety) and can be contacted if needed before, during, and after the hike. If you are not listed in Eventbrite then the guide reserves the right to refuse you joining the hike.

What if the hike is cancelled e.g. train strike, extreme weather?

Cancelling any hike is not taken lightly and the safety of our community is our highest priority. Any cancelled hike(s) will be re-scheduled and the appropriate details will be updated here on Eventbrite.

What is the Trek/Fit disclaimer form?

The Trek/Fit disclaimer form is required to be signed by each Trek/Fit member attending the hikes and ensures that you are willing to take responsibility for yourself (and any pets you bring with you) during the hike. A disclaimer form will be sent to you via email before the hike once your ticket has been purchased. Only one disclaimer form is required to be signed for each Trek/Fit member.
