Help make Richmond a greener, cooler place!
Fall is the perfect time of year to plant a tree so swing by the VCU Health Hub at 25th for a free tree! The Richmond Office of Sustainability is giving away trees as part of Richmond Tree Week to help make our city a more sustainable, resilient place for all. Richmond Tree Week runs from Oct. 11th - Oct. 20th - learn more here.
Urban Forests are Sustainable and Resilient!
Street trees provide shade which cools down our city streets during hot summer months. The leaves and branches slow down rainfall and reduce flooding during heavy rain events. Together, trees along streets, in yards, parks, and campuses make up Richmond's urban forest. As climate change drives hotter, wetter weather events, urban forests will play a vital role in cooling down communities and reducing flooding.
Bring some nature to your home or neighborhood. Don't miss out on this chance to add get a free tree and say hi to the OOS! See you there!
