The International Monetary Fund’s latest World Economic Outlook – insights for New Zealand
About this Event

Join us for our next Treasury Guest Lecture Series seminar

Twice every year, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) publishes its World Economic Outlook (WEO), which presents analyses of global economic developments during the near and medium term. Individual analytical chapters of this report give an overview as well as more detailed analysis of the world economy, consider issues affecting industrial countries, developing countries, and economies in transition to market, and address topics of pressing current interest.

In this seminar, Rui C. Mano, a Deputy Division Chief in the IMF’s Research Department, will present an overview of the latest April 2024 WEO with the particular emphasis on the outlook for the global economy and on the role of housing and mortgage markets for monetary policy transmission.

Join this hybrid session for your opportunity to engage in a discussion with Rui.

About this seminar series

Through the Guest Lecture Series, the Treasury aims to foster debate and provide a source of intellectual stimulation on important issues that underpin its policy advice across these broad areas. We believe these objectives can be served by involving a wide spectrum of speakers from various disciplines, drawing on the wealth of academic scholarship and casting it in a way that helps inform the process of formulating policy advice.
