Local hip-hop star Travis Thompson will take the stage at Safeco Plaza Thursday, Aug. 8 in a free concert as part of our Downtown Summer Sounds series.Genre: Funk, Americana

Travis Thompson is a rapper from Burien, raised by a Navajo father and white mother, from one of the most diverse school districts in the nation. Thompson's playful sound is guided by rhymes that combine evocative description and candid emotion. After being featured on Macklemore's “Corner Store,” he made his major-label debut with the 2019 EP Runaways. In a short amount of time, Travis has created a come up story and garnered a cult-like following that's impossible to ignore.
Travis will be joined by opening act Neon Brass Party. This street band based out of Seattle believes in creating space to celebrate individuality and amplifying joy throughout the community. With live performances ranging from Latin to funk to hip-hop, as long as it’s groovy, they’ll play it!
