Are you seeking tools that foster greater safety, connection and calm in your students during these uncertain times?
Our Yoga in Schools Trauma-sensitive Mindfulness Certification Training benefits studio teachers, educators and students, as it provides a gentle healing experience for the teacher, with leading edge skills and techniques for dealing with students who have experienced trauma. Given that 1 in 3 Canadians have survived at least one Adverse Childhood Experience, trauma-sensitive mindfulness is a essential practice today.

This program was first delivered with the First Nations School Board in NS with overwhelming positive feedback and success and then launched in NS and NB public schools.
"I was honestly transformed. The effect this session had on me is hard to put into words." NS School teacher
"I found these skills to be extremely helpful and actually reduced stress of my own. I really look forward to passing along these skills to students moving forward."

From the stress of our technology-based lifestyle, to climate change that's worsening anxiety and depression in youth, to a global pandemic and an unstable political climate, our systems are bombarded with toxic and threatening information everyday.

Without the proper tools, teachers who implement any kind of contemplative practices into their classroom, be it breathing, mindfulness or yoga, may trigger or even re-traumatize their students due to lack of knowledge and understanding.

"With all of the trauma that happens in first nations communities, our children and adults feel it deeply. To be able to provide techniques to help self regulate, only benefits them when they are looking for ways to cope with past and future traumas." MK Trauma-sensitive Mindfulness in Schools participants

Research has shown that yoga and mindfulness help students to make healthier lifestyle choices, become more skillful in relationships, and control their impulses, while supporting their learning.

Are you ready to bring this transformational, accessible practice into your school and see the positive benefits that it brings to your students?
Our unique training program is designed to restore wholeness, by re-integrating body and mind, known today as interoception.
Trauma-informed somatic practices like breathing and movement gently encourage a return to the body.
The mindfulness practices help to manage intrusive thoughts, and provide strategies for dealing with flashbacks and triggers.

Topics include:
· Trauma-sensitive terms
· Factors that influence the impact of trauma
· Signs and symptoms of trauma
· Dealing with the traumatized brain
· Why mindfulness for healing trauma
· Trauma-sensitive language
· Trauma-sensitive classroom setup
· Trauma-sensitive mindfulness and movement practices
· Post-traumatic growth
*Additional online teachings provided as well as recording of weekend.

Renowned leaders, Jenny Kierstead and Blair Abbass, designed this training experience in the wake of the massacre in NS and the global pandemic.
This program was informed by their years of study in yoga therapy, trauma, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapies and their own lived experience.
In the end, this experience empowers individuals with an approach to life that fosters self-care, compassion, patience and self-advocacy.

"Jenny and Blair are absolutely phenomenal!"
