Background

Establishing safety is crucial to trauma-informed practice, as we cannot help others to heal if they do not feel safe.

This unique residential course in St. Andrews gives you the opportunity to uncover how trauma is an embodied experience that affects the body as well as the mind. You will explore these embodied aspects of trauma in a supportive space, and draw on the experiences of other practitioners to develop best practice. Spread across three days, sessions will combine trauma theory with practical strategies, in-depth discussion and sensory activities.

Through understanding that becoming trauma-informed is a process, you will establish where you/your organisation is on this journey and what you can do to take steps forward and change lives.

NOTE: Ticket prices include full accommodation (your own single bedroom including en-suite bathroom) and meals for the duration of the residential.

Facilitator

Jan Montgomery is an experienced therapist who works across the lifespan. She is a qualified Life Coach, Play Therapist and Adult Psychotherapist. Jan specialises in working with trauma and has a passion for sharing her learning in an accessible and creative format.

Covid Considerations

While the government has lifted restrictions, we recognise that the virus is still with us.

With that in mind, we have introduced an interim response: we ask that if you are feeling unwell with COVID-19 symptoms or test positive, you do not attend so that the virus is not spread.

Unfortunately, we are not in a position to offer refunds if you are unable to attend an event due to COVID-19.

However, in these circumstances, we will offer you a place on an alternative event.

If you develop symptoms and/or test positive within 3 days of attending an event with Children in Scotland we ask that you email us at [email protected] so we may notify attendees of exposure.

Cancellation Policy

As a charity, Children in Scotland must cover the running costs of delivering events. We are therefore not in a position to offer refunds except under extenuating circumstances, in which case an administration fee would be applied.

Please note that your personal details may be shared with the trainer for training purposes. These details will be deleted once the event has taken place.

During the event, photographs and/or video may be taken for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or videoed please alert a member of the Children in Scotland staff on the day.
