This Trauma-Informed Training is designed to enhance your skills as a yoga teacher. Whether you're pursuing YTT certification or seeking continuing education, this training provides essential tools to support students in a safe, compassionate, and empowering way, helping to make yoga accessible to all.
During this workshop, participants will learn the essentials of running a trauma-informed yoga class from start to finish. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of trauma, including how it affects the brain and body, and explore how yoga, mindfulness and community can support healing. Key skills converged include using non-stigmatizing language, creating a safe and inclusive environment, and choosing when to use or refrain form physical assists. Additionally, you’ll learn how to incorporate props to enhance comfort and accessibility, creating a space that is free form judgement and promotes a sense of safety for all participants.

In the final hour of the workshop, Tara will lead a one-hour yoga class that incorporates the practices and techniques discussed during the session. This workshop is an excellent opportunity for wellness practitioners to enhance their skills and knowledge, and to provide the best possible care for their clients.
A little about Tara Briggs...
Welcome to Tara Briggs Yoga, where the journey to wellness begins on the mat. Tara Briggs, a dedicated yoga instructor, first discovered yoga as a means to de-stress from her demanding roles in the mental health field. It was here that she fell in love with meditation, noticing an immediate sense of lightness and an uplifted mood. After a lifelong struggle with anxiety and depression, Tara found that the combination of breath work, meditation, and movement provided a profound calming effect on her mind, body, and spirit.
Yoga became a cornerstone in Tara's recovery from addiction. Learning to manage emotions in a healthier way was crucial, and yoga offered new, healthy tools to handle stress and anxiety. The loss of her brother to substance abuse in 2017 was a pivotal moment, and her yoga practice gave her the strength to process her grief and continue her journey.
Tara’s classes, inspired by Vinyasa, are basic yet powerful. Students can expect fun, relaxing, grounding and accessible sessions. Her goal is to help students stay present and gain the confidence to embrace who they are, both on and off the mat.
Tara is a E-RYT 500-hour yoga instructor, recovery coach, and Reiki 2 practitioner with a degree in mental health. Her approach is deeply informed by specialized training in trauma-informed practices, allowing her to create a supportive and healing environment for all her students.Beyond teaching at yoga studios, Tara extends her practice to detox facilities, sober homes, and a high school for teens struggling with addiction. She also offers recovery yoga classes designed for individuals suffering from substance use disorder and their loved ones.
Forever a student, Tara is immensely grateful for the teachers she has met along her path. She is passionate about continuing her yoga journey and sharing its transformative power with others.
