This training is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to manage trauma effectively and implement trauma-informed approaches both individually and organizationally. It is vital for building resilience, understanding, and effective trauma management, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and trauma-informed community.
Our training session will cover the following key elements:

Overview of Trauma(s):

  • Understand the types, symptoms, and impacts of trauma.
  • Learn about the relationship between trauma and neurobiology.
  • Respond effectively to expressions of trauma.

The Importance of Being Trauma-Informed:

  • Grasp what it means to be trauma-informed.
  • Apply trauma-informed practices in various settings.

Vicarious and Secondary Trauma:

  • Introduction to vicarious and secondary trauma.
  • Strategies to mitigate their impacts.

Trauma-Informed Principles:

  • Principles for becoming trauma-informed.
  • Tools, strategies, and actions for organizational implementation.

Training Objectives Participants will:

  • Identify different types of trauma in themselves and others, including secondary trauma.
  • Respond appropriately to trauma during interactions with trauma survivors.
  • Manage secondary trauma healthily, both immediately and in the long term.
  • Develop stronger relationships with Indigenous Nations and participants who have experienced trauma.
  • Reduce stress and anxiety related to hearing about trauma.
  • Improve resilience and overall health.
  • Tailor mediating and negotiation processes to be trauma-informed.
  • Develop internal guidance to integrate a trauma-informed approach into processes.
