About this Event
* Note: this training is a combination of the Trauma 101: Understanding Trauma, Resilience and Trauma-Informed Approaches and the Trauma 101: the Basics of a Trauma Informed Approach in a School/Youth Setting. If you've attended either of these two sessions, you do not need to attend this one.
As well as providing a foundational overview and awareness of trauma, this training focuses on practical ways to effect a shift in thinking from "what's wrong with you" to "what happened to you", helping to create a sustainable trauma informed approach to all people. Some of the practical strategies discussed will include; the causes of behavior, how trauma affects brain development, skills that increase & decrease in a crisis, and the importance of teaching Distress Tolerance Skills.
