In this free workshop, you will be introduced to Brazilian-style samba drumming on instruments made of discarded itemsWe'll have a range of waste percussion items to try. Or why not make your own instrument, using discarded items?
Doug - currently director of Bloco Winnoch, formerly a player and teacher in SambaYaBamba and has played with some of the top samba groups in the UK, Europe and Brazil - will be drawing on a range of Latin rhythms to make beautiful music from a load of old rubbish!
Everyone is welcome - whether you have some prior drumming or musical experience or are curious.
This project is part of RenCAN's 'From Trash to Treasure' project which aims to promote reducing, reusing and recycling waste locally to work towards a more circular economy. A short video clip of the workshop will be used to promote this work.
