Trash Fishing contests are like Bass Fishing contests, but instead of fishing for fish, we fish for trash. That's right, this is competitive environmental cleanup!
Entrants meet at the start and then we all go looking for trash. When we return for the "weigh in". Trophies are given out for the Most Trash, Most Unusual Piece of Trash, and The Biggest Piece of Trash.
Events are fun, great for parents and kids, and are free to join. You kinda need a motorboat, although a small amount of kayaks can sometimes join us and get shuttled out to the trash (message us in advance, OK?). It's fun. We provide all of the tools you'll need plus we have free donuts.
Trash Fishing contest are put on by Enemies of Debris, a non-profit.
Special Event: In addition to our normal contest, This event will include our first "Underwater" prize. This will be a prize for someone who finds and removes something from under water. We will likely go to Stoney Island which has a large amount of sunken debris. To win this prize you'll have to go under and get it. Bring your magnets, snorkels, scuba gear, underwater cameras, submarines, grappling hooks, whatever you've got.
