Instructor: Robert Bowden
If you have recently moved your household to Central Florida, we fully understand how confusing growing plants here can be. We plant things at the wrong time of the year, and nearly all of the plants growing outdoors here used to be house plants back home. We don’t have dirt, instead we have sand, and what compost we added six months ago is already gone. Where to begin, where to begin? Help is on the way. Discover the enjoyment of growing plants in Central Florida from Leu Garden’s Director Robert Bowden, a northern Ohio transplant himself forty years ago. He’ll talk about garden plants, soil, sun and water and how they differ from other parts of the country. You may not be an expert on Florida plants when you leave, but hopefully you’ll feel a little better about those garden chores in the job jar at home.
Robert Bowden is the Director of Leu Gardens and author of Florida Top Ten Garden Guide by Sunset Books and Florida Fruit and Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles by Cool Springs Press.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to FNGLA Certified Professionals upon request.
