Are you a student with a disability thinking about your next steps? Or a parent planning for your child’s future into adulthood?
Disability Connect’s Transition Expo is your one-stop shop for everything you need to know about life in the community after finishing school.
Designed for young people (12+ years old) and their families, Transition Expo is an annual event making it easier to navigate the shift from school to community. And it's FREE!
Discover what’s possible - from job and study options, to fun activities, vocational and living options, legal advice, financial services, and so much more.
With over 150 stalls, this is a rare opportunity to meet a wide range of organisations in person and ask questions that will set your family up for success.
This free event only comes around once a year - so bring your whole whānau and start getting excited about what's next!

What’s on this year at Transition Expo?
- Opening ceremony at 9am: with Hon Louise Upston, Minister of Disability Issues, and Paula Tesoriero, CEO of Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People.
- Transition seminar at 11am: From School to Community and Beyond! - If you're new to this journey, start here! Find out what every student and parent should know for navigating the school-to-community transition process.
- Employment conversations - Meet the NZ Disability Employers' Network (NZDEN) and top employers like Air New Zealand, Westpac, KPMG, Sudima Hotels, and Vector. Make connections, learn about recruitment processes, and how to prepare for employment.
- University and training pathways - Explore options with Auckland University, Manukau Institute of Technology, Unitec, and others.
- Social enterprises - Meet up with the NZ Disability Employment Network and chat with small businesses led by disabled people - you might get inspired to start your own!
- Interactive activities - Give accessible gaming a go, learn some circus skills, check out the Team Motive racecar, and hop on the Library Bus!
- Free haircuts - Freshen up your style and confidence with a free trim from Groove Kuttz Barbershop.
- Chill Zone - If you need a breather, relax in our dedicated quiet space with sensory-friendly activities and toys.
- And even more! Our goal is to share information and help you build connections so your whānau has the choice to lead the life you want.
