Are you a young person with disabilities, or a parent/family member supporting one? Explore the range of opportunities available after student life at our biggest Transition Expo yet.
Now in its 16th year, Transition Expo is here to help young people (14-30 years old) and their families navigate the shift from school to adulthood. We champion Enabling Good Lives, and want to equip you for a successful transition.
Come chat with the experts and plan your next steps - from living arrangements, to employment and recreational activities. This is a once a year opportunity to meet a range of providers and organisations in one place.
This is also a great event for sector professionals, or teachers/SENCOs/those involved in school to workforce transition for disabled students.
What's on offer this year?
- Transition Seminar - find out what every parent should know about the transition process for leaving school, presented by our own Cherie Cawdron.
- Employment Conversations - talk about future roles and learn how to prepare for them with the NZ Disability Employers' Network, and associated organisations.
- Chill Out Zone - take a breather in a quiet D-Pod to calm your anxiety or sensory challenges. Or check out the Auckland Libraries' bus and experience some interactive virtual reality stories.
- Trikes and bikes - test out the newest mobility products with Milner Mobility and Trikes NZ.
- Financial advice on banking - ask ASB financial advisors your banking questions.
- And much more, with providers from Activities and Recreation, Vocational, University/Education, Transition, Government and Information - RSVP to this event for updates on who's attending!
Thanks to our friends at i-Sign, NZ sign language interpreters will be available all day.
There's a cafe for food and drink on site. The venue has free parking and is wheelchair accessible.
