In this dark-hued comedy, a lifelong friendship is tested when Frank’s bigotry and stubbornness threatens the dignity and rights of immigrant newcomers, Mo and his daughter Lyra, who are trying to find peace and prosperity in their new home. Despite Ernie’s attempts to smooth things out, Frank can't accept the changes to his world and his routines. In anger and ignorance he lashes out at Mohammad and Lyra and then must deal with the ugliness of his actions, finding a path toward kindness and how he can make amends to the people he has offended.
