Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resilience: Coping in Today’s Climate📍 New Life Metropolitan Community Church
🗓️ Thursday, November 20 | 7:00–9:00 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM)
🎟️ Free and open to all
Join us as we come together to honor the lives of the 40 transgender individuals lost this year, reflect on their legacies, and reaffirm our shared resilience.
This year’s program features a community panel in place of individual speakers, discussing:
1️⃣ How are you coping in today’s climate?
2️⃣ How can allies best support you?
Additional elements include:
- Memorial video presentation
- Candle-lighting and remembrance rituals
- Performances and readings from local community members
ASL interpretation and grief support resources available onsite
🕯️ Attendees will have an opportunity to sign the traveling TDOR flag and reflect on the symbols of remembrance — thorned white roses, floating candles, and messages of justice and hope.
This year’s observance of Transgender Days of Remembrance and Resilience will span 3 days of events across Hampton Roads — each offering a different way to honor, reflect, and connect. From community gatherings to spiritual remembrance and a formal memorial service, each event carries the shared theme: “Coping in Today’s Climate.”
