The higher education sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is currently facing critical challenges, including issues of governance, financial constraints, and quality assurance. The devolution of higher education to provinces under the 18th Amendment has significantly impacted the governance and quality of universities in the region. Financial challenges, coupled with the need for greater autonomy and improved quality assurance mechanisms, have further complicated the landscape. Noting the importance of enhancing standards of Higher Education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and bridging gap between the stakeholders, the Pakistan Development Foundation (PDF), IM Sciences, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar, Women University Mardan and Forum for Inquiry, Knowledge and Review (FIKR) are collaborating in a Stakeholder Conference titled “Transforming Higher Education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Strategies and Way Forward”. This conference aims to bring together Vice Chancellors, elected government officials, government machinery, donors, and representatives from international organizations to deliberate on these pressing issues and develop a comprehensive strategy for the enhancement of standards of higher education in the province.
