Beast Wars takes place 300 years after the Great War, following the Pax Cybertronia peace accords between Autobots and Decepticons. To help Cybertron recover from Energon depletion, the Maximal Upgrade was introduced, reducing Cybertronians' size and making them more fuel-efficient. Many surviving Autobots and Decepticons, including Ravage and Grimlock, participated in this upgrade, with some keeping their old forms to guide future generations. Some Autobots and Decepticons also "factory reset" themselves, trying to forget the Great War, while the Maximal Elders concealed Earth's location to prevent another war.
Beast Wars Megatron (unrelated to the original Megatron) is dissatisfied with Maximal rule and the treatment of Predacons. He steals the Golden Disk, which contains Earth's location, hoping to use Earth's Energon to power a Predacon army and overthrow the Maximals. However, his group is not supported by the TriPredacus Council, making them renegades. In pursuit of Earth, Megatron's ship and a Maximal ship are caught in a transwarp accident, sending them to Earth's distant past, after the Autobots' Ark and the Decepticons' Nemesis had already crashed there.
You are a new explorer on a new planet and must figure out its secrets in order to survive this strange new world!
