Did you know that Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company is proposing to build a high-pressure methane gas pipeline through Wallburg, Midway and other areas of Davidson County?
The 54-mile Transco pipeline, called the Southeast Supply Enhancement Project, would travel through Virginia and North Carolina, including 10 miles in Davidson County. The project would also include a large expansion of the existing Transco compressor station on Becky Hill Road, quadrupling its capacity.
The SSEP would pose a variety of safety, health and economic risks. The proposed pipeline route is only 940 feet from Wallburg Elementary School, putting young children, teachers and staff at risk if the proposed pipeline leaks, catches on fire or explodes.
The project is part of a bigger plan to build a large network of new methane gas infrastructure which could increase your electricity bills.
Join us on Tuesday, September 16 to learn more about SSEP and how you can take action to protect the community from its potential impacts. You’re encouraged to join if you’ve been to a previous meeting as we’ll discuss new timeline updates.
