About this Event
Agniia Galdanova's award-winning documentary Queendom follows the journey of Jenna Marvin, a queer artist from Magadan, Russia, who risks her life doing grand public drag performances in defiance of Russia's ferocious anti-LGTBQ laws. In honor of the Trans Remembrance Day, the UAF Anthropology Society, a student club, is hosting an official film screening, followed by a panel discussion, featuring human rights advocates and scholars specializing in contemporary art, gender anthropology, and the cultural-political landscape in present-day Russia. Attendees are invited to a post-screening reception sponsored by the UAF Department of Anthropology. Free and open to the public.
