PLEASE NOTE: This course is only free to University of Manchester Staff or Students.
This course aims to inform attendees about the best methods for analysing data and when 3D analysis is required.
Course Timings
- Start time: The course will start promptly at 9:30am, you are welcome to join the Zoom meeting in advance
- Breaks: there will be breaks throughout the day
- End time: the finish time can be variable between 3:00pm - 4:30pm as it depends on the number of questions
Course Content
1. Good measurement practice
- This covers the important points when measuring features in X-ray CT and the factors that need to be considered
2. When to analyse
- Advantages of radiography, simple orthoslice analysis and when full 3D feature segmentation should be carried out
3. How visualisation packages make measurements
- How basic calculations are made in visualisation packages
- Advanced characterisation techniques such as ferret shape, bary centre etc
4. Visualisation tools for analysis
- Separation of boundaries
- Customising measurements
- Filtering data
- Point cloud density
5. Visualisation of measured components
6. Causes of data variance due to X-ray CT instrumentation
